Nearly 25,000 homes in south-east Queensland found themselves lacking electricity on Monday morning after intense storm systems impacted the region, producing powerful gusts reaching 109km/h.
Substantial Hailstones and Broad Destruction
Homeowners observed large ice chunks reaching sizes of 7cm in certain regions. The Bureau of Meteorology confirmed that multiple regions across Queensland had been hit with significant hail.

Response teams were focused on reestablishing electricity service throughout the impacted areas, with dozens of response units activated to address the numerous electricity disruptions.
Victoria's Climate Difficulties
Meanwhile, approximately 1,000 households in Victoria also experienced power outages after Melbourne experienced its heaviest rainfall in over 500 days.
Emergency response teams responded to nearly 600 requests for assistance across the area, mostly for building damage but also for downed trees and flooding.

- Wyndham region - nearly 180 calls for assistance
At one point on yesterday, in excess of 28,000 energy customers in Victoria were without power.
Weather Forecast
Moist weather were expected to linger along much of Queensland's east this coming days as a weather pattern continued to draw in moisture against the coastal areas.
The following day was predicted as the most rainy day, with continued storm activity anticipated across different parts of both regions.

Public health experts cautioned that there was an higher risk of weather-related respiratory issues across the state's northern country region, specifically given the current weather patterns.
