This winter recruitment period proves to be a period of significant rumour and possible major transfers. Numerous prominent players are being linked with moves out of their current teams. We examine some of the key figures who could be on the move in January.

Antoine Semenyo

Although the Black Stars' failure to qualify for the Africa Cup of Nations, which has kept the forward in contention, reports suggest a major move is close. This 25-year-old has a contract featuring a £65 million buy-out clause active for a brief window in early January. Recent reports suggest the Premier League champions are now the frontrunners for his services. Former suitors such as Chelsea and Tottenham reportedly have moved on to alternative targets, leaving clubs like Manchester United or Liverpool to make a last-minute bid.

M. Guéhi

The England centre-back has excel for Palace despite a summer move to Anfield collapsing. As his deal due to expire in the close season, this represents the club's final opportunity to obtain a fee for their captain. Numerous elite clubs, such as Manchester City and multiple continental powerhouses like Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, and Barcelona, reportedly hold an interest. However, a winter exit remains unlikely, particularly given the coach's reliance on the defender.

B. Johnson

The Welsh winger has found starting opportunities limited at Tottenham this campaign. Although being the club's leading goalscorer last season, Johnson has started only a small number of Premier League games. It is understood the North London outfit is willing to consider a transfer for the right valuation, believed to be in the around £40 million. Bournemouth are currently leading the chase, with Aston Villa, Brentford, and Crystal Palace additionally credited with an inquiry.

R. Neves

The Portuguese playmaker might be poised for a comeback to the English top flight following a period in the Saudi Pro League. Still only twenty-eight, while his agreement expiring in the summer of 2026, he is a potential bargain. Clubs like Liverpool and Manchester United are connected to the former Wolves man. Additionally, there have been suggestions from Spanish media that he is willing to take a reduced salary for a switch to Real Madrid.

Marc-André ter Stegen

This experienced Germany shot-stopper is now as third-choice at Barcelona under the coach Flick. Having fallen out of favour and undergone an operation, a January departure looks highly likely. This prolific English striker has kept scoring regularly in Saudi Arabia. A return to the Premier League might enhance his dwindling chances of making the England World Cup. Juventus are eager to secure the youngster to a new long-term contract but are in a battle to retain one of Europe's most promising prospects.

Kees Smit

This much-admired Dutch teenage midfielder has earned comparisons to a Belgian superstar for his style of play. After impressing at the Under-19 European Championship, he has become a regular in the AZ Alkmaar first team. This teenager is widely expected to complete a major move this month. Newcastle reportedly are frontrunners, but could face strong rivalry from Real Madrid for a deal priced at approximately twenty-two million pounds.
